Hi guys, I just got “attacked” for no rhyme or reason by another marketer called Rosalind.
To make things worse, it was based on WRONG “facts”. You can see the post from Rosalind at http://netprofitstoday.com/blog/so-not-an-internet-marketing-guru/comment-page-3/#comment-104042
Man, I’ve no idea until I got news about it from a loyal subscriber! Thanks!
I hope some of you who think otherwise of her post can comment on her blog as well, I think things need to be set right.
I posted my own comments and reply but I’m not sure if it’s even going to be approved and shown to the public, as it’s awaiting “moderation”
Anyway I captured my comments and the posts in a PDF you can read, just in case…

Thanks in advanced!

Hi again Ewen,
Here is the more public apology for those readers who didn’t see my reply to your post in comments.

Cheers,
Ros
My thought is that the ‘attack’ from Ros at the surface was unfounded, because the post she attacked was a simple news-feed.
But the title of her post speaks volumes about being a non-guru. It simply showed a frustration that is deep in the IM community right now:
1. that most ‘gurus’ out there not only rehash each others content instead of posting ideas and content based on their own experiences
2. Gurus can’t help but shove the latest product launches down your throat.
The KEY to success is a good gameplan to execute and not getting distracted from it. Any ‘guru’ that is constantly distracting you with product launches instead of trying to keep you on track is not only HURTING your student’s chance for success, but really only interested in lining their own pockets.
Even – you all into this category. I’ve bought some of your course with and subscribed via my gmail account. I just checked and last I saw I have 548 emails from you (mostly unread. A quick scan of the 50 most recent emails and ALL of them are pitching a product of some sort. Not 1 “tip” or genuine idea in there from you. That’s a really bad ratio, if I remember correctly in math you should never divide by zero.
This means you are simply trying to market products with your list for your own personal gain, not help your students. 99.9% of the marketers out there do the same thing as you, and if I was in your position I’d probably do the same, so I’m not trying to point the finger at you.
Ros on the other hand falls into the group of marketers that does not market product launches to her list. She keeps her list focused and on track, and each blog post or newsletter is aimed to help her students. I only remember once or twice in many years that she’s recommended a course or product.
So I appreciate and value her aim to help her students vs market to them. This is why she is a non-guru, and why I continue to look forward to every post of hers. Maybe someday I will get to the 500+ of yours, but that will surely be a rainy day.
Hey Ewen,
You must have threatened her with legal action for her to make such an apology as the type of statements she made about you can tarnish one’s reputation. The side of her that attacked you in her blog sounds like the woman who sent me a nasty and presumptuous e-mail blowing me off because I dared to asked for her help and if she had a coupon for her course – EVERYONE has coupons, right? Couldn’t hurt to ask? WRONG! She also happens to be my neighbor. One clear message came through to me when treated like this by such a public persona – she’s only about the money. Glad you stood up for yourself! Bravo!
Ewen, I’m very sorry this happened to you. I’m also very glad she apologized, because you didn’t deserve this…you are the legend amongst legends, man! By the way, your blog is AWESOME, you really need to post more often, like at least once a week! All your readers would agree with me there. Don’t stop believin man!
Ewen, have you checked out the Terms of Use for sites like IM News Watch, Google News, etc. before doing this? Since your site is designed to make money through ads and/or affiliate products, you are using the feed commercially. That is expressly forbidden unless you get permission.
Perhaps you have permission (it seems you’re featured quite heavily on the About page of IM News Watch), but otherwise Rosalind’s accusation of thievery is correct.
Her other comments about you and your products (which she has apologized for and removed) were uncalled for.

Hi Ewen,
Do you have a email? Hope to hear soon.
Thanks
James
Both marketers are great! I advertise them both!
Ewin there could me some merit to what she says. I was impressed by your book but not so much promoting your products. Recently I promoted Fast Track Cash. I sent a lot of traffic to this site. My stats showed I sent nothing so if anyone actually purchased anything I got screwed. I also sent a ticket to the help desk and got no response? If your affiliate systems don’t work what about products?
Interesting content sharing.

108 Easy Ways To Make Money | Secrets On How To Make Money Guide.

This is probably a late comment. I was introduced to affiliate marketing world while browsing the net and thinking of what to do in spare during during my 1.5 year stint of Branch Banking Software implementation to one the of largest banks in Amman, Jordan.
I had so much spare time, I got curious how websites make money and Internet companies make money online until I bought an eBook from Holly Mann – Something like ‘Thank You, Rich Jerk’. At that time, I saw lots of ads from ‘Rich Jerk’.
The eBook was very honest and compelling and it told a story of a former lady army officer and at the same time, a single mother and how she applied Rich Jerk’s methodologies and became successful online. In her eBook (or perhaps in some links), I believe she mentioned and have praises for Ms Rosalind Gardner.

Ms. Gardner, at that time, was selling her ‘Super Affiliate Handbook’, which was then a best seller at (Top Tep 10), at Clickbank. It led me to research on Ms. Gardner until I came across her website NetProfitsToday (maybe it wasn’t a blog at that time).
I became a regular at her website. I can’t remember what I have read earlier but I will never forget how she attacked a Korean website (in Korean language), which copied one of her websites, including the layout, theme, colors, hero shot, etc. In another article, she attacked ‘another’ female ‘super affiliate’. She didn’t mention her name. I remember it was a woman.
Continued on next comment…
Then again, another article where she gave an insight about building an online shopping mall vs. niche products. If I’m not mistaken, there was a negative reference to those owning websites like CBMall? Allan Gardyne of AssociatePrograms was selling CBMall, which was supposed to be her ‘friend’? Their articles in thier websites mention each other in good words.
Through Ms. Gardner, I came across Yanik Silver. On one of the seminar I bought, Ms. Gardner was a guest speaker. Shen entered the stage taking about her boots, and singing “…these boots are made for walking…”…then she flashed some Powerpoint slides discussing her trips and lifestyle. One thing I noticed, one slide had a picture of Singapore Airlines cabin. She flashed the picture and told the audience about the perks of being in the affiliate marketing business – fly ‘First Class’. However, the cabin she flashed on the projector was an SQ ‘Business Class’ cabin.
Both are different on SQ. SQ flies long-haul aircrafts across North America and those pictures are nothing like First Class. More like Business Class (or Raffles Class). That was misleading. I’ve been flying SQ between SG and Dubai on Business (every 2 weeks, company-paid), then Emirates between Dubai and Amman. So, I know my favourite airlines well enough.

Throughout the speaking engagement, she told mentioned about the hype at that time, the Kid Blogger from Manila – CarlOcab. She told the audience to emulate the kid. How to do that, I don’t remember a thing. Perhaps I got pre-occupied with how she turned SQ’s ‘Business Class’ cabin into ‘First Class’. Still bothers me, until today, really. That was several years ago, and I still remember the photo vividly.
Other than that, I don’t remember anything about her session.
Fast forward (months or a year later), I bought Ewen Chia’s AutopilotProfits PLR. I haven’t sold my own product before, so this was my first try. So I invested less than USD250 on the PLR product + Bluehost 1 year hosting (60 USD/year promo, hehehe…i love promotions…) and promoted ‘my product’ using Bluehost’s another promotion for new customer sign-ups – $50 Google Adwords credit (happy me) – yeah, at that time it was $50 Adwords credit, now $75. I was very careful at that time, and since I was new to PPC and again my first time with Adwords. So I bid on 20 keywords mentioned in the ‘manual’. I don’t remember how many users clicked on my ad, but I remember I have 51 subscribers. I used Aweber, as Ewen advised, to capture opt-ins. And to my surprise…

I got an odd-looking cheap dirty-white envelope in my mailbox. It was strange because the envelope doesn’t have the same quality as what we typically receive from banks in Singapore. However, I carefully opened it because in it looked like a cheque (or check from my beloved country of origin – PHL) and the envelope was already close to tearing apart.
I haven’t checked my Clickbank account (paid US$50 activate vendor my account) since I started to promote the product. I wanted it to be a surprise. I wasn’t expecting that much, but surprise! My name on the cheque with US$1,300.00 (plus few dollars and cents). So now what?
I wrote my HSBC account number, name and mobile behind the cheque and dropped it at Suntec City branch. I work in the same tower (12 years and counting
). I was a bit hesitant about depositing the cheque, because the cheque doesn’t look like SG cheques – with CTS watermark on sturdy piece of paper. The Clickbank cheque looked like a plain piece of paper that is so fragile, it can be easily mutilated by the untrained hands.

So, I prepared myself with what to tell HSBC in case they think the cheque wasn’t ‘real’. A few hours later, I received a phone call from HSBC telling me that I will be charged with a $25 processing fee for the cheque and it will take at most 1 month to clear the cheque. They need to mail the cheque back to the U.S. for clearing. Whew! That was a relief! Within 1 month, I have a US$1,300 out of US$250 investment. Not only that, I have still have some few hundreds of dollars with Clickbank (didn’t meet threshold amount
) and it kept on adding $27 a day to my account. I was wondering why, since I have already stopped my Adwords campaign.
I remember, I posted a few articles on Squidoo and Hubpages (as advised by Ewen) and it brought traffic to my product website. At that time, there was no tracking ID (TID) enabled at Clickbank. After gaining confidence with this online business when I received my first check, I have signed up with CommissionJunction. I re-wrote Ezine articles about web hosting and web hosting reviews and posted them on Squidoo and Hubpages. And as expected…
I received a $337 commission from CommissionJunction. I still have the Payee Copy with my name and amount on it… wanna see?

I stopped doing this business for a while due to work commitments and long-term overseas assignments with long hours of work. Before that, I went to an $80 seminar by Derek Gehl here in SG. After the seminar, I had a short chat with a middle-aged man Jakarta (looks rich) and he told me he was a ‘sucker’ of ebooks. He spend at least US$10,000 buying ebooks and Internet Marketing DVDs online and attending seminars that year alone. But he never made any profits. Never started his online business. Procrastination? I wanted to tell him, if he still has US$10,000, I would ask him to give it to me
… and I will show him how I made a profit out of a US$250.
Fast forward, I logged in to my CommissionJunction account. I still have US$380 dollars in my account. But one thing got my attention. I have a thousands of ‘Invalid Links’. The invalid links shows it is coming from an Squidoo page. And affiliate links to a HostGator promo link has expired ages ago. I tried to log in to Squidoo to change the affiliate link, but I they have ‘deactivated’ or probably purged my account due to non-activity for many years.
Oh well, I would have made thousands of affiliate money from HostGator – US$100 per sale. Silly me….really. But it was a lesson learned….

To sum it all up, I made money using Ewen Chia’s product. The instructions are simple to follow and it’s really great for a newbie. With Rosalind Gardner, I read benefits, no instructions. Perhaps, it’s my personality. If there’s no instruction on how to do it, it won’t work no matter what benefits you tell me. My background is in IT, so my way of thinking is towards processes and logic. If I don’t know the ‘how’, I will never get the desired results. If I keep hearing features and benefits (I know these already since I learned what money can do), I tend to stay away.
So there you go.
To borrow Holly Mann’s words “Thank you, Ewen Chia” and thanks to Ms. Rosalind Gardner as well for showing me that affiliate marketing can have different meanings and markets depending on the personality of the customer.
Happy New Year! Gong Xi Fa Cai!
Enjoy you holiday, Ewen!
