The Most Overused And Underused Traffic Strategy (Part II)
Ok I'm back, sorry for the delay. I'm still in China with very limited internet access but I figured I better post this!
If you had read the previous post, you would have been waiting for that "one thing" I did to skyrocket my article marketing results:

When I was beginning my Internet Marketing career, one of the main methods I used was article marketing (and this was years ago). It's completely FREE and it works great because I was short of cash then.
It brought tons of free traffic and these are long-term. Articles I wrote (and I didn't write many) years ago are still driving traffic TODAY. Just google my name and you'll see them.
One thing I did was taking a more proactive and aggressive approach instead of just waiting - and doing that ONE thing skyrocketed my article traffic overnight...

Ok here's the answer (and it's something you already know, nothing mysterious about it)...
List building!
Now there are many DIFFERENT types of lists you can build, not just a prospect or customer list.
The ONE thing I did to improve my article exposure was simply to build a list of CONTENT publishers or what I call my "Publisher List".
Meaning, I built a list of targeted website and/or newsletter owners who WANTED MY content so they can republish it!
So everytime I wrote a new article, I simply emailed my "Publisher List" and saw my article published on scores of websites and newsletters overnight :-)
This far exceeded the exposure my articles brought me, compared to just submitting to article directories.
This is what I meant by being more aggressive and proactive in your internet business...
GO OUT THERE AND GET RESULTS.
Sitting and waiting and hoping ain't gonna make you rich.
Taking CORRECT FOCUSED ACTION consistently is the real key to success.

Yes, it goes without saying that I already have a bookmarked list with 'Content Publishers'.
To make an email list out of it to be able to actually contact them by email - else than only visiting those content publishers or placing comments - does make sense.
I am a 'Content Publisher' myself and I myself also am willing to place content from 'third parties' on my own blogspots if I think that it might be valuable for my daily visitors.

This information Ewen is something I never thought of. I've written 8 articles in the last 2 months. I've always submitted them to article directories. However, I never thought of contacting newsletter publishers.

Hey Ewen & you guys above ... great reading excellent thread ... one thing for sure the internet is just a great big ever expanding information note book and the pages keep turning every day “even if we don’t want it too” … with better information that most folks who dip into this book every day trying to solve there current wishes to find the latest greatest secret to wealth and prosperity and usually miss the point of the greatest secret is … ACTION … by taking ACTION on information learned comes out as knowledge learned so success can turn to WISDOM once that knowledge is implemented with strategies to the desired outcome ...
Remembering that old saying by Benjamin Franklin "The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different Results” I for one didn't understand the saying the first time I heard it, so it wasn't effective on me as it was intended to be. But I expect if my more successful friends keep quoting it, and quoting it, and quoting it, eventually, I might catch on and find the Truth that Lies Deep Within this Wise Saying.

I've heard of marketing strategy with articles, and I've been using this strategy myself. It's proven to me a powerful strategy by far. But sending them to newsletter publishers is news to me. I'll apply this strategy as soon as I have new article written.

Initially i thought, wow yes, superb idea as i do publish quite a few articles for my Niche Sites (not the adsense sites). Then i thought, hmm not so easy, unless i am mistaken or missing something, how do you know who publishes your content?
I track my clicks and hits and can of course track what websites my clicks come from which is often on blogs where they have published my content, obviously i can contact those people. However wouldn't it be nice to know who is sending out your content in newsletters, i can only track those clicks to the fact that they came from an email. Is there someway of finding out who is publishing the content in this way?

Thanks for all the great information! What would be the best way to find specific Content Publishers for your niche articles? When you submit directly to a Content publisher, are they required to keep your article intact with an Author Box like the article directories do?

I agree, Ewen. Everything I do now is catered to building my list! No matter what you do- article marketing, bum marketing... heck, even Google Adwords... I always try and find new ways to "squeeze-in" a few names. Great post! Keep them coming!

Sometimes it doesn't have to be complicated to be effective...
In fact the SIMPLER you keep it, the more responses you get. Period.
Some people asked, how do I get a list of publishers?
Well the same way you build any list - opt-in page and marketing it.
Just that in this case, the opt-in page is targeted at content publishers.
