The Most Overused And Underused Traffic Strategy
What's the most overused AND underused traffic strategy?
The answer: ARTICLE MARKETING.
If you've been online for any length of time, you'll know and had probably utilized articles as a source of traffic.
Are you simply submitting your articles to article directories, hoping to have them published and picked up by website owners?
There's nothing wrong with that, everyone does that.
And here lies the problem - EVERYONE is doing the same thing!
Submitting your articles is NOT article MARKETING, that's article submission.
Marketing comprises of a lot more techniques, and it's the same for article marketing.
And as with all things marketing, the more PROACTIVE you are, the more results you get.
The above two statements should give you some food for thought.
For example, I always suggest you RECYCLE your content. Turn your articles into a special report, blog posts, videos, podcasts or even affiliate tools, etc.
An article is the most basic form of content/product creation. You can spin it into many other formats of a product as discussed above.
This is what's known as LEVERAGE.
Here's something else you may or may not have thought of...
*******************************************************
When I was beginning my Internet Marketing career, one of the main methods I used was article marketing (and this was years ago). It's completely FREE and it works great because I was short of cash then.
It brought tons of free traffic and these are long-term. Articles I wrote (and I didn't write many) years ago are still driving traffic TODAY. Just google my name and you'll see them.
One thing I did was taking a more proactive and aggressive approach instead of just waiting - and doing that ONE thing skyrocketed my article traffic overnight...
Want to know what it was?

Yes, Ewen, I still get traffic from articles I posted in 2001 and 2002.

Damn you and your sneaky keep-readers-on-the-edge-of-their-seats marketing... Will you post the next one already?
Hah, anyway... Yes, article marketing is great and it's one of my main sources of traffic and I don't do PPC or anything like that. All my traffic is free :)
Actually, I came up with my own "formula" last night, and the thing is that it'll keep growing stronger every time I implement it, hopefully it'll work like gangbusters :)
Well, have an awesomely day,

Hi Ewen readers & posters … strange how once you look into a subject your researching online how one post one email leads to another … reminds me of the mindset when you buy a new car how all of a sudden the same car even the same color seem to pop into your vision around every corner same same with internet marketing If you really want to expand your reach I can understand your point here you simply expand on your original article by adding different modes to which you can show off your topic
I’m looking forward to your next post on my current subject article marketing this link I have added is a good read to understand the basics but powerful “The Easiest Way to Write Anything” from the master himself Mr. Joe Vitale ... http://tinyurl.com/66v2qh ... just a helping thought to add to this process

Good Luck

One of the biggest problem to me as a newbie is to rewrite the article. As english is not my "mother tounge" i found it to hard to make the article as good as i wanted.
Is there any solutions for it?
Ewen,
Good intriguing post, which has definitely given me food for thought. I look forward to your next post.
By the way, nice to see you work on a Sunday too!
Thanks,
Graham
nice teaser ewen :)
Very true, Ewen, an article can be much more than just the end of your content. If you stop at just the article, you're either leaving money on the table or failing to leverage your time.(And money, if you outsourced your articles.)
I've told our readers many, many times, Google is forever...or pretty darn close. You can continue to get traffic for years just as you've seen. It makes the small amount of time you spend one time to write the content-- miniscule in comparison.
Wow thanks guys, glad you like the post!
There's no teaser, what I did is actually VERY simple, in fact you already know it but may not have done it the way I did...
...Which I will reveal soon :-)
PS. I'm not selling anything lol.
danielave, there are many article rewriter tools on the internet, just do a google search.
However, I'd suggest not rewriting articles, what's the point?
It will "cost" almost the same if you simply write your own or outsource to ghostwriters.
I think someone asked me a question about "reverse keyword search", or how to know what's hot to target without having a market, not sure why the commment disappeared.
Anyway the SIMPLEST way - use keyword tools like wordtracker and use "qualifiers" like problem, buy etc.
2 of the best qualifier are "learn" and "how to". When you type that into the keyword tool, you'll see what people want to learn.
Hope these tips help.
Ewen
What if you have no time to write the article and cannot pay to outsource it, like newbies? What does everyone do in that case?
@DANIELAVE: When I started my english was MUCH worse than your english right now judging from your post. Try to submit some articles to ezinearticles and see if they get approved - if yes, that's all you need for now, really. Just write 5 articles and day and your english will be much better after 3 months. If Ezinearticles doesn't accept articles, just turn your articles into comments on high-quality blog posts - if you can write really good replies to popular blogs (and they don't need to be good english, they just have to make sense) you will even get some traffic started this way. Try to be the first to comment on posts, because many people actually read the first comment of a post and if you share something interesting they will click through to your site.
@ANNMARIE: I'm not sure if I understand your question right, but the way you ask it sounds like you want to get something for nothing. If you don't put in either work or money, how do you want to make something? That's like someone standing in front of a pile of stones saying: I can't build a house, but I don't want to pay someone to do it.
I don't know how much time you think it takes to write an article. When I started it was 45 minutes - now it's down to 15. If you don't have that kind of time to invest in your online business then you need to change something in your life to create that time.
Hi,
I'm still a bit blur. There's www.autopilotprofits.com and recently I found another one www.autopilotprofitcash.com ...
Are they the same thing?
Hi Ewen, I truly enjoyed working with you one the Work From Home project. So much valuable information is just hard to find lately. Just recently, I came across a new article directory, which looks quite promising. It is on www.world-publish.com Maybe a good tip for your readers who want to do some article marketing?
Anyway, I am looking forward to your next post too. Thanks Ewen, for making this jungle of Internet marketing a bit more understandable for us. ;)
Hi Ewen, thanks for this post, and I am too looking forward to be reading your next post on this. By the way, did anybody hear about BlogSlayer?
Apparently, they will take newbies like us to becoming pros in less than one week.. Sounds promising.
The site I found is on www.blogslayer.com - Check it out.
Hi Ewen. I have read a lot about article marketing (Bum marketing), and have written some articles by myself. Without any great luck...Is article marketing as effective today as it was some years ago?

I just started a post series that deals with this...especially the part on recycling traffic.
A question for me would be is there a resource for finding ezine publishers only instead of mere submission sites and where is it?
try typing "your keyword + ezine + newsletter" in Google.
