Online Marketing Research Tools - Statistics

Most people take the adage literally "do what you love and the money will follow."

Though some millionaires have taken that advice at face value and succeeded wildly, most will tell you to research a market and make sure it has a buying audience. Whether or not you'll find something you love to do there is to some secondary and to many immaterial.

Of course, some people just enjoy the value exchange itself, no matter the market - nothing wrong with that.

In order to choose a market, you need to be able to do some research. What many people miss is that you need to have this knowledge on two levels. First you need kind of an airplane view, especially when you're in the beginning on your research. What are the hot trends in general?

For example, more people who spend money on their hobbies and interests than ever have broadband access. The people who pay more for better internet access may pay more for an online video series about perfecting their golf swing than a book, ebook or audio series. They might even see it as a way to save money on live lessons, or want to use them as home study in addition?

Just knowing that golf is hot on a micro level, and seeing what the niche is on even smaller level, isn't as full of a picture without knowing on a macro level that broadband use might help you offer them better products.

In the next few posts I'll give you brief reviews and links to commonly used market research tools, and some that aren't as common. These will be a series of shorter posts, but there will be more of them, so be sure to subscribe so you can keep up. (See the sidebar.)
