Should You Create Your Own Products As An Affiliate?

I've always believed Affiliate Marketing as a great testing tool for your own marketing promotions, especially if you're just starting out.

There's no better avenue that allows you to 'play around' with your marketing ideas without 'risk'. Imagine if it was your own products on the table, would you be as brave or willing to test promotions out?

Some things you can test for with affiliate products include email copy, landing page copy, promotional campaigns, bonuses and more...

However, I'm NOT of the intention that you shouldn't venture into creating your own products eventually. In fact it's a MUST you do create products of your own.

It'll even make you more affiliate commissions, much more :-)

Why? Here's just one reason...

As you know, the money happens to be in your list. And one of the best ways to build your list is by creating viral lead generators that promotes YOUR opt-in page url, and giving these away freely.

It's a no nonsense, no hassle method of generating targeted traffic and pre- qualified subscribers for FREE. Plus of course you can place your affiliate links in these viral generators for backend affiliate money! (more information on this can be found here)

A viral lead generator would be a simple report, ebook or software you create or put together. No matter what content or source you do that with, it's essentially your own product.

Lets talk about using resale rights products as lead generators or as an opt-in incentive...

While convenient and easily available, resale products are not the best lead generators and opt-in freebie. This is because they are (as mentioned) easily available, common and doesn't offer an opportunity to brand yourself fully.

A simple way to get around this is simply by combining a series of related resale products (those with giveaway master rights that is) into a unique theme package.

This is nothing new...but here's the little twist that hardly anyone uses:

Package all these products into a pdf of your own!

You can then offer the downloads in the pdf while branding yourself and your URL blatantly. Use a rebranding software like "Viral PDF" and allow others to insert their own name and URL too, then give master rights to YOUR pdf (which is now YOUR product). This creates an incentive factor for the viral machine to turbo-charge and take off.

I've done this for years because it works like crazy.

Another quick method of creating your own lead generators is with public domain material. This is SOooo simple it's almost illegal.

Another use of your own products (besides selling them yourself) is by offering them as bonuses to customers who purchase from your affiliate links. This is a proven way to increase affiliate sales and everybody wins from such an arrangement.

As you can tell, the advantages of creating products (no matter how difficult it at first seems) far outweigh the initial work or fear involved. There's no such thing as 'I don't know how to' if the commitment and desire is in place. No one really knows 'how to' in the beginning - everyone learns from scratch.

But the bottom line is: you need to at least TRY creating your own products.

The rewards for doing so will be tremendous, both as an affiliate and as a better marketer...
