One Step At A Time...

Power Affiliate Diaries

Baby Power Affiliate without his M&Ms? :-)

I still remember the day Clayden was born like it was this morning. Man, who would have thought he'll be wearing a little tuxedo now and constantly showering his dad with tantrums :-)

That's how it goes, as a baby he was totally dependent on his mum and me to look after him. He's still relying on us now of course, but at 28 months he has grown in strength and confidence. So much so that he's now able to 'challenge' us whenever he doesn't get his beloved M&Ms!

What am I trying to say, baby talk?

Well it's all about growing and learning and advancing forward one step at a time.

It's about taking the first baby steps before running. And so it is with Affiliate Marketing, or any business you venture in for that matter. Building a firm solid foundation is much more important to your long-term success than anything else.

Before you make that $100,000, you got to first make $10. You got to get started making that FIRST sale. Before you jump into the fire, you got to test the heat. Before you taste success you got to taste some failure.

Have you heard of the "Law Of Growth" from my friend Jason Oman?

Success takes a series of steps building upon each other before it fully blooms. It's not a one-off thing.

Ask yourself what you need to do today, what you need to do NOW, to make that first sale, that first $10, that first $1000...and do it carefully without jumping in too fast initially. Give yourself time to learn, and thus grow steadily.

This simple law is governed by nature and applies no matter what business or activity you're in, be it your own products, resale rights, and especially affiliate marketing.

Look, the great thing about affiliate marketing is you've the luxury of using other people's time and resources as your own learning curve and education - WITHOUT much risk compared to doing it otherwise. This will naturally shape your knowledge and grow your strength...until you're ready to advance to your own products (with all the marketing experience behind you already). You can also use this concept to test campaigns and strategies before applying them to your own sites.

Affiliate marketing is an indispensable and powerful "testbed" and educational tool you CANNOT afford to ignore.

It will get easier and easier once you get the momentum and know how. You'll get more and more confident and achieve better results as you go along. But you got to take these baby steps first...

...just ask Clayden :-)

Hi Ewen,

I subscribe to your newletter during the "12 days of Christmas" and have been consistently receving your newletter. Thanks.
In your blodg, you have mentioned leverage on other people product and become affiliate marketteer. I was just wondering, it seem that every internet guru or marketteer are using the same tactic for their business model and don't seem to be productive.
what I am saying is that for example, farmer produce the necessities for us to consume which is physical and necessary. The internet marketeer/guru sells ideas or method for people to do the samethings that they are doing....so what then?
maybe you can enlighten me. thanks

Hi Ewen,

I have an affiliate business that has great potential that's also quite new to the market...perhaps you might be interested since you're a power affiliate performer ;-)... with my site at www.funtraveldirect.com

My subscriber's rate on the site is around near 10% but conversion from the subscribers is not very high. Even though I had some success but not at the rate that I like. I had been taking baby steps just like you said but then I'm stuck at baby steps for a few months now. =$

I'm wondering if you'd be so kind to give me some tips on how to email my list for more sign ups. You can contact me through my site or from your subscriber's list. Thanks in advance. =)

BTW, you might want to consider what I'm involved in as it's expanding to Asia very soon. The only downside to this business is that you can only earn a maximum income of $35,000 USD per week...not that I'm complaining =)...

Anyone in the world can use the product but only so many countries can do the business... but it's growing...

My site again is www.funtraveldirect.com or directly to www.funtraveldirect.com/corporate.html.

Thanks again.

Cheers, =D

Hi Ewen,

Your post, "One Step At A Time", is one of the most sensible bits of advice I've read in awhile. Too many people are worried about making millions before they earn their first dollar.

I believe a lot of disappointment could be avoided if more marketers, or anyone for that matter, learned that "you have to walk before you can run".

Thanks for a blog that's always informative and thought-provoking.

Warm regards,
Linda

Hi this is Starr, it's the first time I've got a chance to check out your blog. I must say that that is quite a little man you got there. He's just as strong and independent as his father no doubt. *lol* Plus he's very handsome in his suit, though I don't think he's too happy about it. *lol*
I really liked your entry, it's made me take a step back and rethink things myself. I have a two yr old (27 months)son at home, 8 yr old twins (boy/girl), 14 & 12 yr old daughters and an 18 yr old son. With homeschooling, the kids and house and my web business that I started I've little time. I've been pushing myself far too hard in trying to learn as much as I can and get my business up as quickly as possible. I caused me to become very ill and I'm only just now started to recover enough to get back to the computer.
The illness has left me with bad asthma and I'm finding that I can no longer do the break-neck-speed that I used to maintain.
So I guess I'm going to have to take those "baby steps" til I can get back to full health and try to slow down some so I can get my business up without destroying my health. I wish I'd have realized sooner that I was just pushing too hard, trying to do things too fast. But due to my low financial assets it's a struggle just to make ends meet month to month. So I guess I was trying to get money out of my business sooner by getting it done faster.
It didn't work. If I'd taken it easier and took care of myself, I would most likely not be in the situation I am now. Taking baby steps is excellent advice, I just wish I'd thought of it myself. *lol*

Thanks so much for sharing yourself through your blog!
